Richard Piper grew up near to RAE Farnborough where he first became interested in aircraft watching English Electric Lightnings, Avro Vulcans and Hawker Hunters display at the famous airshow. This interest resulted in first hang gliding and then gliding before gaining his PPL in 1989 in the USA. A UK PPL soon followed together with Instructor, Multi and Instrument Ratings to complement his Commercial licence. A seaplane rating has recently been completed in Florida. Richard has flown a wide variety of aircraft from the Jet Provost and L29 Delfin to many classic a aircraft such as the Harvard, Stearman, Tiger Moth, Luscombe, Jungmann, Antonov AN2, Auster, Hornet Moth and Chipmunk. Initially gaining his CAA Display Authorisation on his Harvard, Richard has now added the Ryan to his airshow work and is also a member of the Great War Display Team (see links). In addition, a pairs routine is also available with Gordon Brander's Bucker Jungmeister. Richard is Freeman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators and a member of Historic Aircraft Association, British Air Display Association and The Tiger Club.
